Do You LIVE With LOVE?

I recently went on a mission trip to Guatemala with my husband and his youth group. We were just an ordinary group of people, who did extraordinary things while we were with these children. We didn't even know their language, yet they felt how valued and loved they were by us. We went to a remote farm village that had walls and roofs made out of thin metal scraps and dirt floors. We went to each door to ask if we could pray for them. Since we didn't know much Spanish, we prayed in English. After praying with each family we noticed a peace and joy that came over them. After we finished praying for all the families, we sat down in the street to wait on our other team who were installing stoves in some of the homes. We sat there for maybe three minutes and a little girl came over and sat next to me. I started showing her pictures and videos on my phone. We laughed, hugged, and took selfies. Then a few more children came over to see what we were doing. After a few minutes, we had a large group of kids around us. With the little Spanish we knew, we got them to start singing songs. We clapped and danced with them. Then they got us to sing some of our songs. There was a joy and love in our connection with them even though we didn't know the same language. How does that happen? We were able to touch these families by bringing God's love to them through us.

Before you can give love, you have to receive it. The only way that can be done is through God's love. The only reason I am able to live out my calling of helping Christian women know they are not alone, is because Jesus loves me. Jesus loves you too and is calling such an ordinary person to do extraordinary things through His love. I want to walk alongside my sisters in Christ and share His love and wisdom. If we love with God's love, He will take care of the rest. Lets do life together with love, and take action with confidence!

I invite you to join my Celebrate Women group coaching class, with women just like you! It is going to be incredibly helpful for you as a woman, mother, wife, sister, friend, and daughter in Christ. The women who have taken this class have seen tremendous improvement in their life balance and are more at peace and confident in their journey. We have learned to "clear" our calendar and create time to do life with wise and loving people who make us better.

Truth Always Wins

It was 8th grade and the 11:30am bell just rang. In a rush for food and fun, my class headed for the cafeteria for lunch. My friends and I got our trays and sat at our usual table. We were laughing and joking around like always, and then my "friend" held up a tiny piece of lettuce and said, "hey Nikki, this is the size of your brain!” Everyone started laughing except me of course. In that moment, I got upset and embarrassed. At the time, I tried not to let it effect my confidence in who I knew I was, but couldn't help but let a little bit of it seep into my spirit.

Throughout our lives, inevitably, we will receive negative comments that are obviously lies. If we feed into those lies, they will start to become our reality. Unless, we turn it around and use them to fuel our future goals…

Those kinds of comments weren't completely uncommon to hear. Most of the time, it was just kids trying to grasp for something negative to make fun of me with. Unfortunately, some of these things are what I told myself as well.

I told myself, I couldn’t be a writer or anything that required a lot of reading. So, that forced me to go into something that involved working with numbers. I majored in business management, where most of my classes consisted of finance, accounting, statistics, quantitative methods, etcetera, etcetera. I shaped my future by telling myself I was good at math and business, that's it. This was all due to the lies I told myself and believed from my peers.

We all have examples of this in our life. Here are three practical steps to help you overcome these setbacks.

1. Identify the lie:

I labeled myself “inadequate” in reading and writing. In school, when the teacher would call on me to read out loud, I would get super nervous because I was not a smooth or fast reader. Every standardized test that I took, reading and English were always my lowest scores. It really made me self-conscious. I also panicked when I had to write a paper for school. It always seemed that I would have to spend three times longer on it than anyone else in my class. This weakness caused me to limit what dreams and goals I had for myself. What are the lies you are battling with today?

2. Replace the Lie with the Truth (What you say vs. What God says):

When you tell yourself you aren't good enough or capable of achieving something, you are basically saying that you don’t trust the One who created you. He tailor made you for a specific purpose. Who are we to call God a liar?

In my weakness of reading, writing, and grammar God laughed and said, but Nikki I am strong in those weaknesses. I will give you my grace and birth your purpose in those areas to show you and others it's in those very weaknesses I am made strong. That is when He called me to be a Christian Life Coach four years ago.

I believe God showed me that since I struggled in those areas all my life. He wants to use your weaknesses as a testimony.

Here are some scriptures to replace the lies with:

·      I am God’s masterpiece. Ephesians 2:10

·      I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil 4:13

·      I am the head and not the tail. Duet 28:13

·      I am more than a conqueror. Romans 8:37

·      In my weakness, His power is made perfect. II Cor 12:9

·      The peace of God guards my heart and mind. Phil 4:7

3. Call to Action:

Have you had hesitations about starting a new journey in your life? Like, leading a small group, volunteering, leaving a stable income to step into your God-given purpose, etc. When God called me to be a Christian Life Coach, I tried to juggle my full-time career with coaching only part-time. I wasn’t able to truly do the work He called me to do; therefore, I was faced with a decision to make. Not knowing the outcome of this action step, I went in faith to my boss and asked to go from full-time to part-time so I could focus on my dream. I was able to go down to four days a week instead of five.

When you know you need to take that first action step, remember who you are in Christ. Don’t allow the lies to hold you back. It’s time to step up and into the position that He is trying to place you in.

Do you have certain weaknesses that especially stick out to you? Don't let the lies of the enemy dictate your limits. Allow God to be shown through your weakness and get out of your own head. You are good enough because God made you enough. You are not alone because God is with you.

Please share with me your weakness that is stopping you from your future goals. Let's defeat those lies together one action step at a time!

Email me to receive a FREE 30-minute clarity call. I promise you will gain the confidence you need to make the first step in conquering that goal!

3 Ways to Connect with IMPACT

Do you wish you could grow spiritually, emotionally, and mentally by everyday encounters?

In last weeks blog I talked about the 3 warning signs you aren’t connecting with influential people. Now I want to give three solutions to that problem.

We all know, positive influence is key and goes hand and hand with having valuable friendships. If you aren't influencing each other in a positive way, both parties will be stuck in the same spot you started in.

In my past I used to do this all the time, and produced no growth whatsoever.

Picture it...you finally agree on a time you can meet for coffee, after texting back and forth for weeks. You catch up on each other’s lives, complain about your job, husband and crazy kids, and then say your goodbyes.

Let me pause and say this… It’s totally ok to tell each other your concerns about your job, family life, and whatever else. But, this is key… you must ask yourself, how can I be the solution and make an impact?

How could your conversation have gone differently?

What would the results be if you would have built each other up and encouraged one another?

Connect with others who you can be vulnerable and authentic with. If you don’t trust them and feel comfortable, it’s hard to make an impact and in return be impacted.

It does take some intentional effort to make this happen, but I promise it's worth it and vital in your personal growth!

Here are 3 ways to connect with IMPACT:

1. Join a small group at your church.

Connect with other life changing people. You will give each other encouragement, personal/biblical guidance, and accountability. You can grow in your walk with God by speaking life-giving scriptures over each other.

We must come together to lead each other into our full potential through prayer and influence.

2. Call a positive role model/mentor.

Think of the people who have poured into you. Meet with that person who you admire. Learn from their wisdom and life experience. Then, God will equip you to mentor others who need the same truth, but might be in a different place spiritually.

God wants to use our hands and feet to show the love of Christ. Please, don't miss this calling God has for you. Obey Him and make that leap to connect with an impact!

3. Connect with women who are in your same boat.

I keep hearing so many women say, "I want to take that step to improve my quality of life, but I feel stuck in a packed schedule whirlwind and don't have time to devote to my relationship with God and others".

Notice the word, "stuck". Stuck means fixed, pinned, fastened, attached. That word isn't something God likes to see you feel. God came to give us life and life more abundantly, not to be chained down. So, let’s join arms with other like-minded women, and get unstuck, and step out of the cycle you are currently in. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

Once you implement these strategies, you will no longer be emotionally drained, you will have better clarity on your purpose, and you will be making an impactful difference all around you.

Hebrews 10:24-25, Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another-and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Wow, what an amazing scripture! CONNECT, CONNECT, CONNECT as God directs you, and do it with an IMPACT!

Please share this post with others so we can all get connected!

3 Warning Signs You Aren't Connecting With Influential People

Ladies, do you make time for others in your busy schedule? If you are anything like the old me, you probably don’t carve out a spot for quality relationship time.

After I had my second child, I didn’t make room for anything other than my two sons and husband. Understandably, having a newborn takes a lot of time and energy out of a momma.

However, the decision for me to not make space for other relationships was detrimental. Not that I didn't absolutely love being with my kids and husband, but I needed to stay in touch with my God-given identity and was failing miserably. It affected my mood, relationship with my family, and me as a woman in Christ.

I then decided to actively pursue relationships with women who would influence me and cause me to grow in my faith. They helped build me up; encouraged me to accomplish my calling, listened to my concerns, and allowed me to become a stronger woman.

Do you know if you are having enough positive connections with influential relationships?

Here are 3 warning signs that you are not making influential connections:

1.   You are exhausted: mentally, physically, and emotionally.

When I get so drained and can hardly function properly, it usually isn’t because I just ran a half-marathon (except for that one time, when I really did run a half-marathon) haha. No, but really, if I look at what is going on in my life at that juncture, I am usually stressed emotionally and mentally from everyday in and out family responsibilities and not making time to connect with wise friends who teach and counsel me.

2.   You know God has more for you, but you can’t get a good grasp on it.

How can you figure out the path God wants you to go down, when you constantly stay in the same environment with the same people? In order to see something different, you must step into something new to see a fresh perspective on your life. It is necessary to step out and connect with influential people who will push you out of your comfort zone.

3.   You don’t feel you are making an impact.

You might be going to work everyday, doing what’s in your job description, but not much more. People don’t come to you for wisdom and advice. God created us to impact the world He designed. In order to do that, He said to go and make disciples (relationships). To make disciples we must connect and influence one another to teach, encourage, and join a team of people to go forth and make a difference in this broken world.

When you start to see one or all three of these warning signs in your life, I encourage you to seek wise counsel, people who will influence you to step out and get uncomfortable. In doing so, teach others who are in the same boat as you.

Watch out for next week’s blog post covering 3 things you can do to resolve this problem.
