5 Ways To Improve Self-Confidence

We all have self-confidence issues; even the one’s shaking their heads right now saying, “No I am totally confident in myself!” Yeah Right! Everyone has those areas in their lives that aren’t that polished. Maybe it’s in an area where you are starting something brand new or learning a new business.

I will let you in on a secret of mine…. I was talking to my husband just today telling him how I keep putting off writing a new blog post because I just don’t feel like I am a great writer (low self-confidence). He encouraged me to not give up, keep going, that is the only way to improve and feel more confident in your weaknesses. He reassured me by telling me that I am a good writer and have good ideas; I just need to keep developing them.

If you are like me, and have a passion, but you just don’t have the confidence to put it out there and jump all in, I am giving you permission to JUST DO IT! I am proof that if you have a desire and you work hard, you can overcome! Many others along with me have swallowed their pride and said, “You know what, I may not be great right now, but I’m going to go “ALL IN” and do whatever it takes to get there!”

Now on to what you really want to know…

5 Ways to Improve Self-Confidence

1.    Fake It ‘til You Make It…

What I mean by this is… just do it, put yourself out there and realize you aren’t a pro yet, but in due time you will become the person you aspire to be. I mean did Michael Jordan wake up and become the best basketball player overnight? NO! He had the passion and drive and worked his booty off until he really made it.

2.    Get Inspired By Others…

For example, Gideon in the bible was called to lead an army into battle (Judges 6). Do you think he felt fully equipped and confident? No, but God told him to do it, so there was no time to have a pity party about how unqualified he felt.

3.    Get a Buddy Who You Trust…

Remember what I did when I was down and feeling lack of confidence to write? I talked to my “buddy” or my husband, who made me feel better and gave me that push to go for it. It doesn’t take much; just a little reassurance from someone you trust and look up to makes all the difference!

4.    One Step At A Time…

Take small steps to your goal and when you accomplish it, recognize your good work and pat yourself on the back. However, don’t linger too long, keep pushing forward to the next step. If you see yourself accomplishing the goals you have set, that will give you an immediate confidence boost!

5.     Give It to God…

God has clearly asked us to cast all of our cares and anxieties on Him (Psalm 55:22, 1 Peter 5:7). We all have cares and anxieties that weigh us down. We carry them around and they keep us unsure of what we can ever accomplish. They cause you to second guess the purpose and plan that God has put in your heart. It’s in those times of fear and anxiety that we just have to give it to God. It can be as simple as saying, “Help me Lord. I know that it is only by your strength and ability that I’m able to succeed.” Your words have power! Something so simple can be a complete game changer for you. Get into the habit of giving it to God!

Friends, I hope this will help you move forward in conquering your fears and doubt. Remember, if God put the desire in you, He won’t let anything stand in the way of your success! JUST GO FOR IT!
